Here the surface is organised like a paving of pale pieces, repeated with a regularity that allows slight deviations: each module retains a rounded, irregular edge, like a form cut out by wear. The grid is not imposed through drawing, but through assembly; the “tesserae” are perceived as adhered bodies, separated by narrow incisions that set out a silent order.

The palette remains restrained to off-whites, calcareous greys and a very soft ochre that emerges along the contours, while a dark, almost black, mesh runs through the rows like a joint. This black is not flat: it thickens in points, splatters and leaves small pale reserves, producing a vibration that contrasts with the matte calm of the modules.

Detail reveals a porous skin of microbubbles and fine grain, achieved through layering and pressure. Over this ground, whitish glazes settle and are eroded, allowing earlier strata to show through. Along the edges of the folded card the relief generates a minimal, linear shadow that acts like a seam and lends the work its architectural quality: light held in the edge, darkness lodged in the interstice.
