Like a sedimented skin, the surface is organised into a succession of undulating horizontal bands, overlapped like sheets that shift over one another. The ensemble, frontal and serene in its reading, is slightly decentered by a column of vertical joins: small rectangular pieces that interrupt the continuity of the “stratum” and reveal assembly as method.

The palette remains within a calcareous register: off-whites, ash greys and barely suggested earthy glazes. Across this restrained field, areas of fine mottling and spatter appear, densifying the plane without forfeiting its stillness, like a mineral patina. In the upper band, a darker deposit—greyish ochre—acts as a crowning element, suggesting wear and accumulation.

The relief, visible in profile, is decisive: each raised edge casts a narrow shadow that runs through the work in parallel and sets a measured rhythm. The material does not seek gesture, but patient construction: folds, flaps and minimal steps that catch lateral light and turn painting into a soft architecture, between wall and horizon.
